The 485 series was introduced in 1968 as a vehicle compatible with all power supply systems, including DC, 50Hz and 60Hz AC.
The early 485 series was 481 type except for the motor car units of Moha 484 and 485, and the leading car featured a bonnet style inherited from the 151 series.
