The Kiha 40 series is a general-purpose diesel car that has been in operation since 1977. Of the updated 1700 series cars in operation in Hokkaido, two cars, 1759 and 1766, have been painted in the standard JNR color of vermilion and cream as part of the 2021 Kushiro region anniversary event, attracting attention.

Features

• A set of two cars, No. 1759 and No. 1766, are reproduced in a two-tone cream and vermilion color
• No. 1759 is equipped with a power unit, while No. 1766 is trailer-equipped
• The front is reproduced to look like it has no typhoon
• The underfloor reproduces the various equipment that has been updated in the actual car, such as the DMF13 engine
• The front display unit is interchangeable and comes with printed parts for 'One-man, Rapid One-man, and Local (navy blue)'
• The side indicator lights are already attached with clear parts
• The car number and various notations are printed
• Head and tail lights have an ON-OFF switch
• The headlights light up a color close to incandescent, and the front display unit lights up a color close to white
• Equipped with a cab interior light that lights up the cab when rearward
• Sealed self-locking TN coupler is standard equipment
